About ACAG

Our mission is to maintain Awendaw’s rural characteristics, represent the interest of the residents as well as to improve the quality of life for the entire community.

Awendaw is a community in rural Charleston County South Carolina. It is surrounded by incredibly diverse and fragile habitats of the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge and the Francis Marion National Forest. The Community is as diverse as the land it encompasses. Generations of residents have lived here for hundreds of years. Others have retired here to call this place home.

ACAG is trying to save Awendaw’s rural heritage and pristine community. It is being threatened by many issues. Issues include high density development within the town itself, urban sprawl in general, industrial and commercial business establishments and environmental pollution. We are a Certified Non Profit 501 C3 Organization that cares about the community at large. All donations are tax deductible.

You can help us by joining the ACAG or by contributing in other areas. We are involved in many community events and attend public meetings affecting our area. We welcome your assistance, volunteering and input. Our meetings are held at 6:30 the 3rd Monday of every month at First Seewee Missionary Baptist Church, 5151 N. Highway 17, Awendaw.
